Hi Everyone --
It's now official -- all our friends have left India. The last two friends (whose husbands work for GM) left last week. It's very sad! We need Heather to come back soon!
It has been a slow week, but two things stand out:
1. Doug got his passport back from the American Consulate in Mumbai. We had sent it the week before to get additional pages put into it. I expected it sooner than it came, so I had extra opportunity to worry over it.
2. Flat Stanley came to visit. This is a character from a book that elementary school kids enjoy. He is flat because a bulletin board above his bed fell on him and made him flat. Now he can travel all over the world in an envelope and have different experiences. He was supposed to visit Heather, but since she's not here, he visited us. We took him shopping to our favorite places on Center Street and Shivaji market. Some of the Indians thought it was quite cute and interesting. Others thought it was some horrible thing. We did get lots of pictures of him in various shops and different places. I will have Doug post those pictures in our book. I also wrote about where Stanley was and what he was doing so the second grade class back in Kansas could understand a bit more about India.
It's starting to get VERY warm. I just saw on BBC news that Mumbai at 33 C (91 F) is the warmest place on the whole earth right now.
We had 7 at church today. We have some very faithful Indian people who come regularly. They are very nice and very wonderful.
I guess that's all that's going on here. Have a wonderful week!
Love, Lucinda

Considering how much Flat Stanley hangs out around food, it is amazing how slender he is.
