Hi Everyone --
I can't believe it's June already. Time really flies by here. We start the week going to the market and getting groceries, and the next thing we know, it's Friday! Hopefully, we have gotten something done in between there.
The wedding is coming along. Thanks to all who sent recipes for Heidi's shower. Too bad we can't all be there to get to know her and have a good time. I also got the addresses for the announcements finished and sent to Heidi's mom. She is going to do all of those -- what a blessing! We're trying again with the bridesmaid's dresses. We have some other fabric in to another tailor who hopefully will make the dress properly. We find out Monday on the way to the market. If he's done it right, we'll get the rest of the fabric and the measurements to him right away and he can start those. Life is so exciting and unpredictable!
We got to see Indiana Jones yesterday. They show the movies at 9 a.m. on Saturday (and every day I think). Of course the price is only 69-79 rupees (about $2). There were plenty of people there, but it wasn't packed. It was a fun movie and I hope we get to see it again during the week sometime. They start the movie with the Indian national anthem, and we all stand up for that. Then they have an intermission in the middle so you can get popcorn. The morning movie has last night's popcorn, however, so that's kind of bad. They also have assigned seats, so the people coming in late cause a big ruckus looking in the dark for their seat number.
We're having church here at our house today. When the missionaries left our house last week, they ran into a Chinese woman who stopped them and asked about their badges. She said that she had attended BYU and where was the church. I called her yesterday -- she lives in the next apartment complex from us -- and she is coming to church today. We are hoping to have a full house. We're lucky to have new (and official) sacrament trays. If we can get enough folks here every week, we don't have to go to Mumbai any more. That would be good and bad -- we do enjoy attending in Mumbai and we love the people there, it's just the drive that is so long.
Hannah and I are getting excited for our trip to the US. I dreamed last night of the hold ups and long lines at the Mumbai airport. I guess I'm not looking forward to that.
Hannah has 2 finals to take this week. We're hoping they come in the pouch this weekend. She has 3 classes to take this summer while we're on our trip. Hopefully, they will be fun and go quickly for her.
Have a great week! We love you and miss you!
Love, Lucinda
This is an update to today's blog.
We had 14 people at church today! We don't have to go to Mumbai next week, because there are too many here to get them there! We had Vijay and his family (4), George and his family (4), us (3), Bali, the Chinese lady, Mahashwari, and Santosh. George will receive the Holy Ghost next week here. One of the branch presidency will be coming. George's family will be baptized in July. Very exciting times!
Other good news -- Michelle and Ryan had their baby at 4:20 p.m., May 31, 2008. Her name is Helen Hackett. She weighed 7 lb. 12 oz. and was 21 1/4 inches long. Michelle had 13 hours of labor and they are very happy with their new baby Helen. Amber and her family are on their way to help with things. They have all kinds of outings planned -- the zoo, the air force museum, etc.
That's all the extra news for today!
Have a good day!
Love, Lucinda
