Hi Everyone --
This has been a nice week. It has gotten very hot -- 37-38 C. That is 98 to 101 degrees F. It didn't get this hot this early last year. We've even had rain the last couple of evenings/mornings. Very interesting weather. We were walking home from dining out last night and got caught in the rain. It hasn't rained since last September -- why would we have taken our umbrellas!
Tuesday was our wedding anniversary. The really funny thing was that I didn't realize it until about 11 a.m. when I was talking with my friend. Doug never figured it out -- I asked him if he knew what day it was and he told me it was Tuesday. He got home from work about 7:45 p.m. and I didn't want to go out. We had chicken tacos and strawberries and ice cream for dinner. That was fine with me. So much for a 30th anniversary celebration!
This is mosquito season. It's hard to believe, but there are lots even though it is dry. We have the guard light a mosquito coil outside the door every evening so they don't come in the house when we go in and out. Hannah and Doug have been all bit up while they were sleeping. So I went out this week and got a mosquito net for Hannah to sleep under. I told her it would be "romantic" to sleep under and not a problem, so she consented. The picture is great!
We've been able to work out our sleeping as well. We moved the bed in our room farther from the air conditioner so it is not so noisy and doesn't blow right on us. That has seemed to help. Also, the air conditioner is so loud, we can't hear the mosquitoes buzzing us any more. If it gets bad again, we can put up our mosquito netting too.
We had a great treat this week. A friend told me her husband bought canned hot dogs while she was away. She didn't want to waste them, so they had them for dinner. She said they were the closest thing to real hot dogs you could get here. So I bought a can of hot dogs. We had Brazilian hot dogs with them -- a bun with mayo, catsup, hot dog, peas, cheese, onion, tomato, and shoestring potato crisps. They were great. Doug was so impressed he took a picture of the hot dogs and the can for you. The hot dogs are from Holland -- nice!
Next Sunday we go to Mumbai for church, stay the afternoon and head to the airport for our trip to Israel. We are getting very excited. There was a blurb in the paper yesterday that makes the whole thing a bit more interesting:
Israel Airliners to Get Rocket Shields
JERUSALEM: Defense officials say Israel will begin outfitting some of its passenger aircraft with rocket defense systems within weeks.
Doug says that IL Al has the tightest security of any airline in the world. We're really not worried. BYU still has their students there and they made the trip to Petra last week. We should be ok.
We hope everyone is well and happy!
Love, Lucinda

That mosquito net is nice, do we need to get some for when you come and visit?
So I don't know how I feel about you guys visiting such a dangerous region of the world, but we probably can't say anything after our last visit. But, we weren't given any pea shooters to hold on the plane.
