Hi Everyone --
Sorry there was no letter last week. Our internet has been sporatic at best and difficult to deal with. I don't think anything has changed this week, but if I get on the computer in the morning, it seems a little better for continuous service.
We went to the hospital on Saturday to get a TB test. We've been here one year and they wanted us checked. We didn't have to see a doctor first, we just went to the lab and met the doctor in charge of the lab. She wrote the perscription and even gave the TB test. We go back today to have them checked. In my unpracticed medical opinion, we are all negative. Also, today when I go back, I get to have a blood test for my thyroid. It needed to be a fasting test because they check all the blood levels. My friend says we are brave to get this done here. I think we are just fine.
Yesterday was a huge day at the Mumbai Branch. There were 8 baptisms -- 6 were converts and 2 were children. There was so much excitement no one could even sit still. Our building has a baptismal font outside and a lot of the neighbors and children watched. One lady in the building next door got out her camera to take pictures. I bet we had 60 people for church yesterday with all the families of those getting baptized there. They are starting to look for a larger building for us or to remodel the one we have to fit more people.
We left the house Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. and got home at 6 p.m. It was a long day! The confirmations will be done next week for those that live in Mumbai (4) and in 2 weeks for the family that comes with us from Pune (4).
Doug's old boss -- Reno -- is here in India for the next 2 weeks to help with a tangent of Doug's project. He is staying in the John Deere guest house which is about a 5 minute walk from the John Deere IT Center. He invited us over for dinner last night -- there is a full time cook at the guest house and it was a nice meal.
I am busy working with Julia and Heather on tablecloths for Heather's June 20 wedding. I have been all over town taking pictures of great fabrics and saris from India. Then they look at the choices and narrow it down. I'm not sure which job is tougher! Hopefully, we can get it done and send the tablecloths back with Reno in 2 weeks. That would save some headaches down the road.
It looks like our Jerusalem trip is back on. More tickets opened up at the lower price. We will have to stay a few more days, but that will be ok. That gives us time to enjoy Petra and go snorkling in the Arabian Sea at Eilat. Hopefully we will get that all booked and reserved tonight (if our internet works).
We hope everyone is doing well!
Love, Lucinda
