Hi Everyone –

It’s Sunday in India, and I think the monsoon has started. It has been very cloudy the last week, but not too much rain. Then today it has been cloudy and it has been rainy all day. Doug asked his co-workers how to know if it is monsoon. They said that they read it in the paper. There is the real answer for you – monsoon is here -- I read it in the paper!

Craig left us to return to the United States on Wednesday evening. Our driver took him to Mumbai and dropped him off at a fancy hotel. I think he had dinner there and their car took him to the airport around 11 p.m. It’s a very easy way to get to the airport. The driver came back that night and then took our car into the dealer to get the windows tinted and a steering wheel cover put on. It’s much nicer with tinted windows – not so much sun and also the beggars can’t see how white we are as easily.

The big news this week is Amber and Spencer’s new baby – Hunter Isaac Finch. He was born on Monday, June 11. He weighed 8 lb. 9 oz. Mom and baby are doing great and they’re home now. In the pictures, Hunter looks like Corbin as a baby. In India, grandparents give out candy when a new baby comes. We missed that opportunity! Michelle will be at Amber’s for a week or so helping with all the kids.

Yesterday Doug went to get a haircut and a shave. He went to this new place that Craig found. It cost 50 rupees (about $1) for the haircut and shave. So he does get some pampering occasionally. We went to a morning movie of Shrek 3. Since it was at 10 a.m. we got in for 60 rupees each (instead of 200). We enjoyed the movie a lot, and were surprised at what the Indians thought was funny. We were surprised they got as many jokes as they did.

Today we went to church in Mumbai. It still takes 2-21/4 hours to get there. It’s not too bad on the way to church, but the drive home is hard after all that sitting.

Hannah has been taking finals all week at school. I’m not sure what she is going to do next week with these finished. She did well in French, geography, history, English, and drama. We’re waiting to see her grades in science and math before we engage a tutor for the next 6 weeks.

We do have geckos living in our house. Doug says not to worry because they eat the bugs. I’m thinking we should have a cat come in a couple times a month and get rid of them. There is really no way to trap them and release them back outside. The best thing is to seal up the house and get rid of their food source – bugs. It looks like we’ll just be living together for a couple of years. If anyone has any helpful suggestions . . . .

Here is our tentative schedule for vacation this summer:

July 13 Fly into Detroit and drive to Michelle’s, stay overnight
July 14 Drive to Amber’s
July 21 Drive to Waterloo
July 26-28 Youth Conference w/Waterloo Ward
July 29 Attend morning church, drive to Emily’s
Aug 3 Drive to Detroit (5 p.m. flight)

We can make some adjustments to this schedule if necessary. Please let us know if there are any conflicts.

We love you and miss you much.
Love, Lucinda
